William Edward Lown's Obituary
William Edward “Bill” Lown passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, after long decline due to dementia. He was born on March 17, 1944, in Portland, Oregon to Harold “Bud” and Margaret “Peg” Lown- the first of three children. He is survived by his brother Ron Lown, sister Cherie Folkens; and two children, Troy Lown and Carrie Higgins. Bill had five grandchildren whom he loved very much: Madison, Halle, Jensyn, Myla and Weston.
“Mr. Bill”, as he was often known, grew up in the Milwaukie area and was an avid rock ‘n’ roll lover all his life. He often told tales of hanging out with friends who were members of famous bands such as the Kingsmen, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and the Righteous Brothers.
Bill worked a number of years at Pacific Metal Company before beginning his own business working as a commercial & residential contractor until his retirement. His work can be seen in various LensCrafters, Macheezmo Mouse restaurants, and houses he built in Milwaukie, Oregon.
Bill served his community by coaching both his son’s and daughter’s baseball and softball teams. He also loved playing softball and tennis for years.
As an accomplished home chef, Bill shared his secret pancake recipe at various parish pancake breakfast during his life. He was always an amazing host for many annual holiday family feasts as well.
In his later years, Bill never quit gathering with his former drag racing buddies on Wednesday nights at Portland International Raceway.
Those who remember Bill will always remember his love of music, laughter, and his fondness to tell a joke that he probably told you five times already- laughing every time.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday April 5, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with life affirming reception to follow.
