Johannes "Hans" Martien van Andel's Obituary
Johannes "Hans" van Andel passed away on March 12, 2015 in his home in Hillsboro surrounded by his wife, children and loved ones after a short battle with colon and liver cancer. Hans was born October 7, 1947 in The Hague, The Netherlands to Johanna Roberti and Albert Doktor. In 1955, he officially changed his name to van Andel when his mother married Koos van Andel, the man he knew as his father. Hans served in the Dutch navy from 1966 to 1968. He married his wife Coby in 1971 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Hans made a career working in the high tech industry starting with Philips in the Netherlands, then Fluke who transferred him to the United States in 1981, Tektronix and finally Intel. Never one to sit still and retire quietly, Hans started a guitar cable and connector panel business through eBay which kept him busy even two weeks before his untimely death. Hans is survived by his wife, Coby, children Robbert van Andel married to Yvonne van Andel and Karen Sita married to Mounir Shita, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He has two brothers and two sisters and other extended family who live primarily in Holland and also other European countries. An open house celebration of life is planned for Sunday March 29th at the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse at 4045 NW Cornelius Pass Rd, Hillsboro, OR 97124 from 2pm to 7pm. Hans greatly loved music and playing guitar and bass. The celebration will include an area for his friends to jam. Please feel free to bring your instruments.
