Gloria Carmen Sizemore (Planton)'s Obituary
Gloria Carmen Sizemore (Planton) was born in Oregon City, Oregon on November 28, 1942, to Louis and Sarah Planton. She passed away at the age of 80 on January 30, 2023. Gloria has been called to Heaven to take her well-earned and rightful place with God.
Gloria was the best of us, a wonderful Mother, devoted Wife, amazing Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was the glue of her large extended family; her home the place for all to gather for birthdays, holidays or just an impromptu visit. Her door was always open. Gloria’s unique sense of humor, combined with her delicate “naivety,” made her absolutely precious. Her love for her family will help us remain close in her memory.
She was a lifetime resident of West Linn, Oregon and worked for Gerber Legendary Blades for 16 years. An avid sportswoman, Gloria could out-fish or out-hunt most. She loved riding ATVs with her husband and family; camping, hunting fishing and looking for rocks or mushrooms along the way. She was an amazing cook and an excellent seamstress.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Bobby D. Sizemore, her brother John Planton (Teresa), her children Michael Dixon, Cathy Irelan (Lee), and stepchildren Michelle Rydman (Eli), Michael Sizemore (Paula), Teresa Planton (John), Johnny Morin (Bonnie), Audrie Lewis (Matt), and Tonyia Engler (Mike), and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gloria’s smile and lively, blue eyes were infectious, and she made friends everywhere she went, whether it was the local gathering place or on one of her and Bob’s many adventures. Her curiosity and passion for the beauty of nature inspired her many collections, from rocks, to art, books, and dolls. She loved feeding and watching all the birds and squirrels in her yard.
Gloria will forever hold a huge place in our hearts, and we (family and friends) are so grateful we had such a wonderful person like her in our lives. She will continue to inspire, support, and encourage each of us to find beauty in each other and in nature. Whenever we see a hummingbird, beautiful gem, rock, or sparkly pair of earrings we will be reminded Gloria is truly with us.
There will not be a formal service. Please remember Gloria by being kind, even performing an act of kindness in her honor, or donating in her name to your favorite charity. She loved with all her heart, and this is how she would want to be remembered.
