So many wonderful memories of Mrs. Price are flooding back; she was one of the pillars of my youth. From the scratchy "go you chicken fat go away" record in PE classes to the numerous camping and backpacking trips in 4H, Mrs. Price was always there. For many years the arc of my summers was spent in preparation for the Douglas County Fair (and if things went well, on to the State Fair) at the Price residence. We practiced our presentations, pressed and mounted our plant samples, and when she felt we had worked hard enough for one afternoon, it was down to the pond to swim with the waterdogs and pole the raft through the cattails. While the camping trips were too numerous to recount, I remember one particular backpacking trip into Calumet Lake that ended up being just Mrs. Price, my Mom, Stan Booth, Rob Spivey and me. Knowing all of us boys would sleep in late, she got up early in the morning to go skinny-dipping in the lake! There was no way she could talk my Mom into joining her, but she was proud of her daring - in her mid-60s!The Price residence, home of so many great summer memories, was also the location Charlotte and I chose to get married back in 1987. That wonderful pond served as the scenic background and Mrs. Price as our gracious host.Reading the memories that have been posted, it is clear that one of her gifts was making every one of us who she touched feel special. My life has been so enriched having known her - she will be missed.I am very sorry for your loss, but so glad I got the chance to share a small part of her long, rich, and wonderful life. She was an inspiration. Dale Van Valkenburg, Bend, Oregon
