William Carl Lewis' Obituary
William Carl Lewis, Jr., of Milwaukie, Oregon, died on February 9, 2016 from cardiac arrest.
William was born on November 22, 1947 in Lexington, SC. He attended Lexington High School and was drafted into the US Army shortly after graduation. He served several tours in Vietnam and also in Nuremberg, Germany, where he met and married his wife, Patricia. After his discharge he moved with his family to Oregon, where he worked for many years for the US Postal Service and for Land Rover of Portland. After retirement he enjoyed bicycling, European travel and exploring fine foods and wines with his wife.
William was a true Southern good ol' boy. He was always ready with a joke or a smile. He never met a stranger, and he took the time to know and care about all those he met. People were important to him, and he showed this with his actions. He saw otherwise unnoticed ways to serve and he took the time to quietly meet those needs without fanfare or public knowledge. He loved his children and wife passionately and without reservation.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, daughters Camilla Powell and Allison Pruitt, sons in law Keith Powell and Matthew Pruitt and grandchildren Lillian, David and Elsa Powell and many, many friends.
Services will be held at Clackamas Bible Church on Monday, February 15 at 3:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Oregon Public Broadcasting, the home of his beloved Brit-coms and Car shows.
