Wallace "Wally" Neal Lewis' Obituary
Wallace Neal Lewis aka Wally was born in Oregon City, Oregon on June 18th, 1949, to Neal and Myrle Lewis. He was one of four children and the only boy. He grew up farming and tinkering with automobiles alongside his father.
Wally joined the army at age 17, he was a trained mechanic but also cross trained as a crash and rescue specialist. He served two years in the Army in which part of his time was in Vietnam. He was awarded many medals for his heroic actions while serving.
Later, Wally spent his career working for Emmert International, Inc. as a heavy equipment engineer. He moved houses and any other large items that people needed moved. He was a jack of all trades and could figure out how to fix just about anything.
He died on November 25th, 2023, from advanced stage prostate cancer, metastasized to his bones. His wife of many years, Deanna Marie Lewis, predeceased him exactly five years and one day previously.
He is survived by his daughter Nicole Frances Gornick and her four children, Kadin Giovanini, Zoey Giovanini, Charli Gornick and Stetson Gornick. He also had three stepchildren from his wife Deanna: Steven Davis, Michelle Hazard, and Holly Holloway. He was also survived by his girlfriend, Doreen Ojeda.
He spent the last five years of his life at his property in Elsie, Oregon enjoying the quiet life that he loved. He was a man of few words, but we will miss his funny expressions and sayings, nicknames he made for everyone because he had a bad memory for names and his knowledge of how to do almost everything.
There will be a brief graveside memorial at St. Johns’s Cemetery on December 11th, 2023, at 1:00 pm. After the memorial, a celebration of his life will follow at his daughter's house located at 16017 S. Henrici Rd. Oregon City, OR. 97045.
