Velma June Engles' Obituary
June was born in Harris, Iowa, to Homer and Hazel Ankeney. She lived in Spirit Lake, Iowa, until 1936 when the family, including 5 siblings, moved to Oregon. She grew up in the Montavilla neighborhood of Portland, attended Vestal Grade School and graduated from Girls Polytechnic High School. She married Jim Engles Senior May 28, 1948. They raised three boys primarily in Portland. She was a home-maker and active in her church. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Jim, middle son, Bill, father, mother and four of her siblings. She is survived by two sons, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her oldest sister, Lorene.A viewing will be at Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud, 715 7th St, Oregon City, Friday, April 10 between 1 and 4. A memorial service will be held at 11:00, Saturday, April 11, at Gladstone Christian Church, 305 E. Dartmouth St., Gladstone. Interment will be 2:00 the same day at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Youth Scholarship Fund of the Gladstone Christian Church.
