Thomas Anton Kraemer's Obituary
Thomas Anton Kraemer was born in Portland on November 26, 1934. He was raised in the area of SE Washington street and 92nd. Tom attended Ascension parish grade school and Central Catholic High School. He lived most of his adult life in the Ascension area and his children attended Ascension grade school until it was closed in the early 1970s.
Tom married Evonn Clark in September 1955, and they remained happily married until her passing in 2003. Together they had four children.
Tom and Evonn were active members at Ascension, always lending a helping hand with the many community events and fundraisers held at the church. He especially enjoyed the comradery he experienced working in the kitchen during the annual spaghetti dinner.
Tom and Evonn were avid bowlers in their younger years and loved playing Bridge and dancing. Tom also played competitive volleyball. He also enjoyed camping and fishing and most family vacations were spent in the outdoors.
Tom was a co-owner of Eastgate Garage at SE Stark and 92nd until his retirement in 1994. Upon retiring Tom and Evonn were able to fulfill their decades long dream and spent the next six years living and travelling in their RV, visiting almost every State, most of the Provinces and part of Mexico. They then settled down in Casa Grande, Az.
Tom begin exhibiting symptoms of Alzheimer's disease about four years ago which progressively worsened, eventually requiring his children to move him from his home in Casa Grande to a care facility in Milwaukie so they could visit him often. He passed away on January 28, 2019. He is survived by his children Steve, Terri, Clara Hughes and Clark, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Fortunately, even when he was going through the final stages of this terrible disease, he was happy, caring of his family, the other residents and staff at the facility. His children are grateful for the loving care he received by the facility and hospice.
