Steven C.A. Wilson's Obituary
Steven (Willy) C.A. Wilson, 66, passed away July 15, 2016. He was born and raised in Astoria, OR, the son of William Fleming Wilson and Ethel Wilson. Steve attended Robert Gray Elementary School and graduated from Astoria High School in 1967. He was a well-known athlete in the Astoria community for baseball, basketball, golf and football. After attending Clatsop Community College he graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Education. After graduation he met his wife, Diane, of 42 years and they were married on August 2, 1974. They met while skiing at Mt. Hood and that became a favorite family activity as they raised their 3 sons. Steve was an active father coaching their 3 sons in their sports. Steve modeled a good work ethic and instilled those values in his boys while raising them on their family farm.
As a self-employed contractor, it was in Steve's nature to know his clients on a personal level. For many, he was known as being a good friend, compassionate to the elderly, patient, and honest.
Steve's faith began in his hometown at Bethany Lutheran Church in Astoria, OR. His walk with the Lord continued with Diane at Willamette Christian Church where Steve served in ministries close to his heart. His favorite and most recent ministry he served was the Willamette Christian Firewood Ministry.
Steve was a loving and faithful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was known for his unyielding and loving support of his family. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, school activities and church programs.
Steve is survived by his wife Diane; sons Michael and his wife Heather of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Cory and his wife Sara of Kalispell, Montana and Eric and his wife Wendy of Clackamas, OR; 9 grandchildren, Stephanie, Taylor, Sadie, Peter, Trevor, Zachary, Megan Josephine and Annie; mother Ethel, brother Bill and sister Becky Roman. He is preceded in death by his father, William Fleming Wilson.
Memorial service will be held at Willamette Christian Church on Tuesday, July 26th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Incight, an organization close to Steve's heart that unlocks the potential of people with disabilities through education, employment and independence. www.incight.org.
