Sharon Lee Allen's Obituary
Obituary for Sharon Lee Allen
Sharon Lee Allen, 71, passed away on Thursday February 8, after a short but hard-fought battle
with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Sharon
was born October 17, 1952 in Cheyenne Wyoming (Warren AFB) to Charles and Abigail Kent the
oldest of 3 daughters. After her father was discharged from the Airforce, they returned to their
home state of New Hampshire until they moved to Estacada, Oregon in 1960 when she was 8.
Sharon graduated from Estacada High School in 1970 and later went on to marry Fred Block.
They raised three daughters and one son in Estacada until they divorced years later. Sharon
went on to marry Stephen Allen in 1998 until his passing in 2005. She remained a widow after
Steve’s passing as she had found her soulmate in Steve and there was never anyone else for her
after that. Sharon became a very meticulous bookkeeper during her working career and
eventually retired from the Sheetmetal Workers Local 16’s office in 2016. She had planned to
work a few more years, but retired early to take care of her first great grandson full time while
her granddaughter finished college. She spent the next six years helping with all of her great
grandchildren and enjoyed being a GiGi to all of them until her illness didn’t allow for her to
continue caring for them. During her retirement years, she continued to enjoy her hobbies of
reading, baking sweet treats for friends, neighbors and family, painting with her friends at the
Tole Barn in Estacada and making crocheted stuffed animals for both the children’s cancer
nonprofit Embrace Compassion and DHS for foster children at Christmas time each year. She
donated hundreds of handmade crocheted stuffed animals to both over the years.
Sharon is survived by her four children Traci Pardee (James), Deanna Robles, Kimberly Jackson,
Mark Block (Jessica) , grandchildren Courtney Pardee, Brian Pardee, Abigail Robles, Ethan
Robles, Trask Larsen and Eli Jackson, four great grandchildren and her nephew Michael
Schroeder (Linette) and two great nieces. Sharon is preceded in death by beloved husband
Stephen Allen, her parents, her infant sister Sheila Kent and sister Susan Casanova.
There will be a Celebration of Life at The Source Church, 505 E Clarendon St, Gladstone, Oregon
at 1pm on Saturday February 24, 2024. A light reception will follow at the church. A graveside
service will be held privately for immediate family at the Redland Pioneer Cemetery prior to the
Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Sharon’s honor to the ALS Northwest 825 NE
Multnomah St. Suite 940, Portland, Oregon 97232. www.alsoregon.org
