Ronald Eugene Johnson's Obituary
Ronald Eugene Johnson, 1945-2024, passed peacefully on September 17 at Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, WA, with family at his bedside. Ron was born March 29 in Los Angeles, CA, to parents Burrell “Bud” Eugene Johnson and Helen Maybell Harvey.
Ron had an adventurous childhood which he recounted in many stories to his family. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1963. He joined the Navy in 1965, and he was stationed on the USS Coral Sea as a radio operator during Vietnam. He married Delores Kadrmas in 1968, and the next year Leslie was born, Aaron soon followed. He purchased a home in Oregon City, OR in 1975 and soon Susan joined the family. Oregon City was his home, where he raised his family with laughter, love and devotion. He was a Systems Analyst for the Port of Portland and fulfilled his lifelong dream of purchasing an RV and traveling upon his retirement. He was a Mariner’s baseball fan which he attended with Dee. His favorite pastime was being a coach and cheerleader at his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Preceding Ron’s death are his parents, Charles (Chuck) Woods (stepfather), Dave and Barbara Salveson (uncle and aunt), Tony Salveson (cousin), Archer Emmit Yoder (great-grandson) and Gary Eugene Johnson (brother).
Ron leaves behind his loving wife, Delores; children Leslie (John) Yoder, Aaron (Alexis) Johnson and Susan (Chris) Lawrence; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; cousins Penny (Vern) Biboux and Helen Clark; and his “Baby Girl”- Harley (old English bulldog).
Memorial Service will be October 3, 2024, at 12:00pm in Oregon City, OR at Holman, Hankins, Bowker, and Waud Funeral Service (www.waudsfuneralservice.com). Followed by a graveside military service at Willamette National Cemetery at 2:30pm and a Celebration of Life at Susan Lawrence’s residence from 4-6pm.
