Robert Daniel Weichert's Obituary
Robert Daniel Weichert was born on March 26, 1947, in York, PA, to Emory "Jake" and Harriet Weichert. Bob proudly served as a Radio Repairman in the U.S. Army for three years, including a tour in Vietnam. He then became a Phone Technician with Bell Systems, Pacific NW Bell, AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Avaya, retiring after 30 years. Survived by his wife of nearly 18 years, Susan Weichert, brother Stanley Weichert, and sister Joan Abbott; his children Bridget LaChapelle, Melissa Bishop, Cristina Buley, Megan Sharp, Ryan Weichert, Mari Weichert, and Jason Weichert; stepchildren Shannon Banky and Ryan Usher; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Weichert, sisters Dolores Renoll and Harriet Moyer. Bob enjoyed golfing and camping with family and friends, playing with any type of electronic gadget, and serving faithfully at his church. He was an integral part of the Awana program at Tri-City Baptist Temple for 14 years, as Leader, Supply Coordinator and Commander. After a courageous battle with ALS, Bob went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at the age of 68. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Tri-City Baptist Temple, Gladstone, OR, on Wednesday, August 26 at 10:00 AM, followed by a remembrance luncheon. Military Honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery 2:30 PM.
