Robert E Peterson (1923 - 2017)
Peterson, Robert E. "Pete" was born on Jan. 13 1923 Detroit, Michigan to Francis and Florence Peterson. Pete passed away in his Gladstone home on Feb. 18. He grew up in the Detroit area he was a standout athlete in both football and track. Pete went to Detroit Tech on a football and track scholarship but his education was cut short by WWII where he trained in Texas and Kentucky. Kentucky is where he met Dorothy L Price who he later married. During WWII he was assigned to the U.S. Army's 820th Tank Destroyer Battalion and crossed the beaches of Normandy and survived the Battle of the Bulge. After the war Pete and Dorothy were married and moved to Oregon City. He was successful with service stations in Milwaukee and then Gladstone where he owned Robo Car Wash. Pete was a lifetime Masonic and Elk's Lodge member. Pete is survived by his daughter Deanna Humphrey and son Butch Peterson (Becky), grandchildren Mark Peck and Jason Peterson, great-grandchildren Olivia and Amy Peterson. At his request there will be no service.
