Robert (Bob) Joseph Cassidy's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Joseph Cassidy peacefully passed away on November 16th at the age of 93 in Canby, surrounded by his family and the loving staff at Marquis Hope Village who took great care of him during the last several years of his life. Bob was the eldest among four siblings, and his youngest sister, Joann, survives him. He attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School in Portland and later Central Catholic High School Class of 1950. Bob was a great athlete playing multiple sports during his childhood upbringing in North Portland and at Central Catholic. He went to Oregon State to play football and after one term he made the life altering choice to join the United States Marine Corp where he served as a radio operator for the Marine Air Corp during the Korean War. He was highly involved with the Oregon Korean War Veterans Association. He married Joan Cassidy and had five children: Paul (Sally), Matt, Sheila (Ross), Monica, and Maureen, who died in 2022. He has twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren Bob was an integral part of the Madeleine Parish and spent many years coaching CYO sports and participated in many Parish activities. He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus at his last parish, St Patrick’s in Canby Oregon. At the time of his passing, Bob was married to his devoted wife, Nikki Cassidy. Their union spanned 35 years, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Nikki was by his side through the joys and challenges of life, offering unwavering support and care as they built a life together. As a recovering alcoholic (48 years of sobriety), he was an ardent advocate of Alcoholics Anonymous. He helped many people with their recovery as both a Drug and Alcohol counselor and mostly as a caring friend. Bob held his family, Catholicism, and the Marine Corp close to his heart. He was a humorous and empathetic person, able to connect with nearly everyone he https://met.He will be greatly missed. A funeral will be held Saturday January 10th, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Church with a rosary at 10:30am, followed by Mass at 11am.
