Richard Calvin Johnson's Obituary
Richard Calvin Johnson passed away on June 20, 2012, in Gladstone. He was 83 years old. Richard was born to parents Alta and Harry Johnson on November 28, 1928, in Oregon City. He graduated from Newport High School in 1947, though he attended Lincoln High School in Portland for the first three years of High School. In August of 1950, Richard joined the Air Force and served until 1954. On February 20, 1959, he married Alverna Lindau, in Oregon City. They lived together in Gladstone from then on. Richard was a member of Gladstone First Baptist Church. He loved photography, travel, and golf. He is survived by his wife, Alverna Johnson; daughter Rhonda Cullens of Sandy Hook, CT; son-in-law Chane Cullens of Sandy Hook, CT, Grandsons Cody and Chad Cullens of Sandy Hook, CT, as well as sister Shirley Updenkelder of Portland. A funeral service will be held on June 30, 2012 at Gladstone First Baptist Church, 6125 Caldwell Street, Gladstone, OR, with viewing starting at 12:00 and the service starting at 1:00. There will also be a committal service with military honors at Willamette National Cemetery on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 10:00. Memorial contributions may be made to Gladstone First Baptist Church Van Fund.
