Phyllis M. Welters' Obituary
Phyllis M. (Gobernatz)Welters, 90, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025. Phyllis was born April 20, 1934, in Holdingford, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Joseph and Hildegard (Meier) Gobernatz. She was also preceded in death by brothers Raymond Gobernatz and Howard Gobernatz.
She Graduated from Holdingford High School. After graduation she moved to St. Paul, MN where she was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a nurse’s aide. On October 20, 1954 she was married to Ervin Welters, son of Peter and Marie (Bieniek) Welters. Together they raised and parented 9 children, 3 girls: Jeanette Anderson, Jane Marsiglia, and Ann Corwin; and 6 boys: Mark Welters, Stephen Welters, Kenneth Welters, Gregory Welters, Charles Welters, and Christopher Welters. Additionally, they have 15 Grandchildren, and 12 Great Grandchildren.
In January of 1967, Phyllis and Ervin moved the family to the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon, in Oregon City. There they faithfully raised their nine children. Once the children were raised, She and Ervin relocated to Washington where Dad found work.
Phyllis enjoyed being a homemaker with unending love for her family. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. In later years she fell in love with quilting and made some of the most beautiful quilts you can imagine. Many of her quilts were donated to the Pregnant Teen Center. Her love extended to all those she came in contact with. She had a deep devotion to Holy Mary and deep faith commitment to God and the Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 417 Washington St., Oregon City, OR 97045, on Friday, April 25th. The Rosary will be at 10:30am with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am.
