Phyliss "Jeanne" Benson's Obituary
Phyliss "Jeanne" Benson, 90, of Gladstone, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.
Born on June 27, 1926 in Toledo, Oregon, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Vereta Glubrecht.
She was married to Lawrence "Larry" Benson , Sr. on December 2, 1947. He passed away in 1983. Her eldest son, Lawrence Benson, Jr. (1983) and a granddaughter Michelle Chere Hargitt (1974) preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son Phillip "Phil" Benson (Oregon City, OR) and two daughters Joeanne Smith (Winlock, WA) and Cheryl VanAlstine (Gresham, OR); a sister, Jackie Nelson (Milwaukie, OR) brother, Fred Glubrecht (Corvallis, OR); six grandchildren, Jason, Steven, Tina, Lacey, Carrie, and Joshua; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She attended and served at First Baptist Church (Gladstone, OR) and in recent years attended Calvary Chapel SE (Mikwaukie, OR). She was a homemaker and loved cooking/baking, gardening, reading, puzzles, bingo, bunko and word games. Her favorite sport was roller derby but she also loved baseball, football and golf. She volunteered for several years at the Clackamas County Elections Office in Gladstone, Oregon helping voters to register and counting votes after each election.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud Sunset Chapel, 715 7th Street, Oregon City, Oregon 97045 (503-656-2661). Doug Snow (Pastor, Calvary Chapel Southeast, Milwaukie, OR) and Jack Glubrecht (Minister, Northwest Hills Community Church) will be officiating.
