Norman "Joe" Lee Tyrrell's Obituary
Norman "Joe" Lee Tyrrell was born March 13, 1959, in Vancouver, Washington. He passed away at home in Lynwood, Washington on July 2, 2023.
Joe grew up in Portland, Oregon. He moved to the Seattle area as a young adult where he made several lifelong friends through the years.
Joe got into construction work and became a framer and carpenter where he took considerable pride in his work. When not working, he loved the outdoors. A natural born tree hugger for sure. He spent his free time fishing and camping mostly in the Darrington, Washington area. He enjoyed jumping the rocks along the riverbeds while steelhead fishing, which is his favorite fish to catch and eat. Joe also had a great love for music. He went to numerous concerts over the years with friends and family, taking pride in collecting ticket stubs from concerts he attended. He was known by most friends and family as a huge Grateful Dead fan. He spent a summer or two following the Dead around the country going to every concert they performed. We could always see Joe wearing a t-shirt of a concert he attended.
Joe is survived by his son Shawn (Dylan) Lewis, grandson Jordan Tauvell, Mother Lauralee Tyrrell, brother Jeff Tyrrell, sisters’ Jeanie Tyrrell Owens (Bob), Julie Andrade (Jeff) half-brothers’ Terry Tyrrell, Scott Tyrrell (Kathy), half-sisters’ Debbie Guess, Christine Salzer (Ron), as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Joe is preceded in death by his father Troy Tyrrell, half-brother Randy Tyrrell, and half-sister Shelia McCall.
We will always hold Joe close in our hearts, Joe may your beautiful soul rest in peace.
A Celebration of Life service followed by fellowship, food, and refreshments will be held on October 15, 2023, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Willamette Park in Portland, Oregon.
