Norma "DeDe" Davis LaClef was born to Pearl and Josie Davis in Medicine Lodge, Kansas on September 17, 1923. She was the oldest of six. While she was in grade school the family moved to Ava, Missouri. While in high school Norma worked as a grocery clerk to help out the growing family.
Upon graduation, Norma moved to California to do her part in the war effort. She became a welder and built ships at the San Diego ship yards.
After the war, Norma return home and resumed her job as a grocery clerk. Soon after she met her future husband Densal LaClef. Densal and Norma were married April 25, 1948. The drove to Oregon on their honeymoon and fell in love with the area. They made their home in Lake Oswego where their only child, Daryl was born. The LaClef family moved to Canby, Oregon in 1962, where Norma lived until 2007 when she moved into Loving Hands adult foster care in Milwaukie.
For most of her career, Norma worked for Montgomery Wards in various positions. First as a trainer, catalog sales manager, order writer supervisor and regional manager. She retired when Montgomery Wards closed their doors.
Norma loved to travel, often visiting casinos and playing slot machines. She also enjoyed being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her son Daryl (Lynn) of Gladstone. Four grandchildren Keith, Derek, Jennifer and Stephanie and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Jim Davis and a sister Cookie Howell along with numerous nieces and nephews. Norma's husband Densal, her parents and three brothers, Dale, Jerry and Wayne preceded her in death.
