Naomi Louise Walton's Obituary
Naomi Louise "Mickey" Walton was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Robert and Theresa Wright. Her family moved a lot for work in the Great Depression, and Mickey and her brother Bob watched out for each other as they adjusted to new schools and new friends. Mickey met the love of her life, Clarence Danny Walton, on a double date while living in Spokane-Dan was her girlfriend's date, but Mickey and Dan ended up together. They married in 1951 and would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year! Dan was in the Air Force, and they moved to Dallas, Texas for a short time where she gave birth to their first son, Robert Dan. They returned to Spokane and Steven Wayne came along soon after. Then another 7 years later, their family was completed with the arrival of Jon Clifton. The family relocated to Oregon where Dan was a distributor for The Oregonian and Mickey was a banker for US Bank. Within a few years, they bought a home in West Linn, much to Dan's surprise, thanks to her excellent money management skill. She was a favorite teller for many bank clients and a favorite boss for her staff. She was just plain a favorite to all who met her with her always cheerful disposition and warm, loving way. She had her hands full raising three wild boys, and their world has always revolved around their precious mom.Mickey and Dan led a very active life. They traveled a lot, often with family, taking cruises, going to Mexico with family, etc. Mickey always had to have her next trip planned so she had something to look forward to when the trip ended. Mickey had regular bunco nights and was an active Kiwanianne. They bowled regularly and ate out a lot with a group of friends they called the "Ground Hogs".Mickey provided years of loving care to Dan after we almost lost him to a health crisis a few years back. When he passed, she often said she was ready to join him. Her memory started to fade in recent years, but along with that, her cheerful disposition returned up until her final days. We are so grateful that Mom was able to remain at home with her beloved feline companions, Buddy and Pal, in recent years, thanks to the devoted caregiving of Steve, Jon, Sherry, Bob, Yolanda Jimenez, Danny Moore and Jennifer Thompson.Mickey loved fresh flowers, gardening, watching the antics of birds and squirrels outside her window, foot rubs, and their cats and dogs. But most of all, she loved her family!Mickey is survived by her three sons, Bob (Jennifer) Walton of Mount Vernon, WA: Steve (Diana) Walton of Hillsboro, OR; and Jon (Sherry) Walton of Portland, OR. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Dan, her brother Bob and her parents, Robert and Theresa. A celebration of life will be held at Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud in Oregon City on Tuesday, October 19 at 11:30 a.m.Please feel free to attend via Zoom.
