Nancy E Radcliff's Obituary
Nancy E. Radcliff, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted community member, passed away after a short battle with cancer on January 29, 2025, one day shy of her 85th birthday, in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Born in Los Angeles, California on January 30, 1940, Nancy grew up in the San Fernando Valley, where she attended Burbank High School and graduated as Salutatorian in 1958. It was during those years that she met the love of her life, David Radcliff, at a pool in Burbank. The two were married on April 10, 1959, and spent nearly 66 years together.
Nancy and Dave were blessed with three children. Their daughter Elizabeth, born in 1959, passed away in January 1960. Their surviving daughters, MaryAnne Radcliff and Karla Reardon (married to Doug Reardon), were always a constant loving support in Nancy’s life. Nancy had two grandchildren, Katie Sellon (married to Ben Sellon) and Nolan Reardon (passed away in December 2005), and two great-grandchildren, Sammy Sellon (6 years) and Jay Sellon (1 year).
Nancy dedicated much of her life to supporting her family and community. She worked for 14 years as the Student Store Manager in the Chaffey Joint Union High School District, where she was known for her tough reliability and thorough dedication (and sneaking her grandkids candy and pocket change). After being named Ontario High School's 1994 honorary prom king and queen and subsequently retiring, Nancy and Dave moved to Hillsboro, Oregon to be closer to their grandchildren.
A passionate and active woman, Nancy enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including skiing, camping, traveling, and reading. She was also an expert needle pointer, creating countless beautiful pieces over the years. Alongside her husband, Nancy became an integral part of the Oregon Masters Swimming community, supporting Dave in his swimming endeavors and volunteering her time to help other swimmers and their families.
For many years, Nancy served as an unofficial “team mom” to hundreds of swimming and water polo players on Dave’s high school teams, always offering a kind word, encouragement, and unwavering support.
Nancy’s love for her family and her commitment to her community will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a deep devotion to those she cared for.
An Irish Wake open house in celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at The Cornelius Pass Roadhouse in Hillsboro, OR on February 28, 2025, 11am to 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oregon Masters Swimming. Donations will be used for helping people pay for swimming events.
