Nancy Marie DeLeon's Obituary
Nancy Marie Vetter DeLeon, age 49, of Oregon City, passed away Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 after a three year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones in the days leading up to, and at the time of her passing. Nancy was born in Portland, Oregon on November 11th, 1963 to John and Gertie Vetter. She was one of ten children in a full and happy household. She attended Oregon City High School where her charisma and fun-loving spirit drew people to her and she was admired by many.She married Nelson DeLeon in 1999 and became a proud and devoted military wife. She enjoyed traveling to various military camps and bases to site see. Nancy was the mother of four children. Her warmth and creativity made their childhood wonderful and exciting. She was also blessed with six grandchildren. She was an active and loving grandmother who spent time with her grandkids nearly everyday.Throughout her life she enjoyed roller skating, reggae music, dancing, travel and camping with her sisters and brothers. She loved spending time with her family watching movies, going to the beach and celebrating holiday traditions. She found happiness in the ocean and anything to do with surfing and the Islands of Hawaii. Nancy was a tough woman and free spirit. Her inner strength emanated through her beautiful smile. She put all of herself into all that she did. She loved with all she had.She is survived by her mother, Gertie Vetter; Husband, Nelson DeLeon; Children, Monique Rose, Corey Chimienti, Simone Chimienti, Robert Deleon; and her son-in-law, Joss Rose. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 brothers, 6 sisters and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Service will be held Monday, September 2nd 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church at 11 o'clock in the morning. It will be directly followed by a Celebration of Life service, which will be held at the Oregon City Golf Club at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Nancy Vetter DeLeon Memorial Fund at US Bank. These contributions will be used to carry out Nancy's last wish of being laid to rest in Hawaii.
