Moises (Moe) Gonzalez Jr.'s Obituary
Moises (Moe) Gonzalez, Jr., age 78, of Gladstone, Oregon, passed away on 5/25/2026. He was born on June 15, 1947 in El Paso, Texas to Felipa Gonzalez and Moises Gonzalez, Sr. He was a proud United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran who served in-country. He received several service related medals including: Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Vietnam Service Medallion with two stars, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, the Presidential Unity Citation and a Purple Heart. When he returned stateside, he was stationed at the Naval Weapons Station, Concord where he met and married his wife of 25 years, Christine White. They eventually moved to Martinez, California, where they raised their children. He worked at Chevron Chemical until he retired. He will be remembered for his love of his K-9 obedience trained German Shepherds, his parties, and his community involvement, which included community gardening and watching his sons grow in baseball, membership in the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He really loved the Moose breakfasts. He particularly enjoyed coaching his sons and other Martinez boys all the way from Pee Wee League to Little League and when asked, stepped up to eventually be President of the League. He moved to Oregon in 2001 and spent his retirement years fishing on the Willamette River. Moises is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ruben, Edward and Delia. He leaves behind two sisters, Elizabeth and Paula, and one brother Luiz. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Dawn Tornquist (Erik), son Mario Gonzalez, and son Marcello Gonzalez (Eva), 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery in Oregon.
