Michelle Sheree Nielsen's Obituary
Michelle Sheree Nielsen (née Foteff)
March 18, 1970 – July 7, 2025
Michelle Sheree Nielsen, born March 18, 1970, in Portland, Oregon. She passed away peacefully at her home in Gladstone, Oregon, on July 7, 2025, at the age of 55, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Michelle grew up in Gladstone, Oregon, where she made lifelong friendships. She went on to attend Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon, where she earned her business degree and developed her love for learning, growth, and connection.
She began her professional life in the mortgage industry, a field where her integrity, attention to detail, and genuine care for people made her stand out. After taking a break from her career to raise her children—her proudest and most fulfilling role—Michelle returned to the workforce and spent the last ten years as a Senior Mortgage Specialist with Directors Mortgage. She was deeply respected by her colleagues and clients alike for her dedication, professionalism, and warmth.
Michelle was someone who found peace and joy in the outdoors. She loved to hike and made walking a daily part of her life, often exploring local trails and appreciating the quiet beauty of nature. These moments of solitude and reflection were a source of strength and serenity for her.
A devoted mother, daughter, sister, and loyal friend, Michelle's greatest joy came from her family. She made everyone feel comfortable, like close friends. She is survived by her beloved children, Parker Nielsen and Shelby Nielsen, who were the light of her life; and her devoted partner, Timothy Scheehean.
She is also lovingly remembered by her father, Christopher "Joe" Foteff; her mother, Darlene Gilroy; and her brothers, Brad Foteff, Brian Foteff, and her twin brother Mark Foteff.
Michelle was a deeply private person who faced her illness with grace, dignity, and courage, continuing to inspire those around her even in the most difficult times. She lived her life quietly, her way, on her terms.
Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10955 SE 25th Avenue, Milwaukie, Oregon 97222. Interment will follow at Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery, 11666 SE Stevens Road, Happy Valley, Oregon 97086.
