My family and I came to Oregon City United Methodist Church around October 2008. The very first person I met was Marvin! He opened the door and greeted us with a smile. He was so pleasant and loving. You could tell he really cared about us, as if he had known us forever. First impressions say alot! I/We had moved from Pennsylvania to Oregon in August 2008 and needed to find a new church. Well, I searched the phone book and found OCUMC and we decided to go. I am so fortunate to have Marvin as my first experience with the church because like I said, first impressions say alot and OCUMC became my new church home. Marvin was the first person to show me what love is within OCUMC. I enjoyed being at church every Sunday. I would look for Marvin and Marsha to greet them both with a hello and a hug. Marvin would greet people at their cars with umbrellas in the rain and with a big smile. You will truly be missed Marvin. As simple as this sounds, Marvin was just such a nice man! A really nice/good man. Thank you God for letting Marvin enter my path and introduce me to a beautiful loving person and wife, and a to a chuch I love and could call home. My sincere and deepest condolences to you Marsha and your family. I loved Marvin, as did many others, and as we say at OCUMC "there's nothing you can do about it!"
