Martin Clyde Abelsen's Obituary
Martin (Marty) Clyde Abelsen, 72, passed peacefully the morning of August 30, 2019, at his home in Oregon City, surrounded by his wife and three daughters, after a courageous battle with Lewy body dementia.
Marty was born in Portland, Oregon on May 5, 1947 to Harold and Donna Abelsen. He attended Washington High School, where he met the love of his life Maureen Ann McDevitt. He later
graduated from Portland State University.
He spent his career of 38 years with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Department.
Marty was preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maureen, daughters Deanna (Mike) Yglesias of University Place, WA, Kristine (Tod) Billings of Oregon City, OR and Amy (Don) Buffington of Coronado Island, CA as well as 9 Grandchildren,1 Great Grandchild and siblings, Ardyth, Sherri, David, Anita and Carla.
A rosary will be recited at 11:00 am, with a funeral Mass at 11:30 am followed by a reception at the parish hall on Friday, September 6, 2019, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church: 417 Washington St, Oregon City, OR. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery.
