Marsha Kay Herron's Obituary
Marsha Kay Herron, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving children.
Marsha was born on January 24, 1947, in Ephrata, Washington, to Henry and Verna Anderson. She graduated from Ephrata High School in 1965 and earned her Associate’s Degree from Clackamas Community College as a nontraditional student. She was a dedicated and capable professional. Marsha worked for many years in the West Linn School District, serving as a special education aide, administrative assistant, and IT specialist. Her commitment to helping students and staff made a lasting impact on those she worked with.
Marsha was a devoted mother and Nana who built a life of love, laughter, and service to others. Her dedication to her grandchildren was unwavering; aways willing to drop everything to help make playdough, read them a book, or teach them something new about the natural world. She was always up for her next adventure, and she loved nothing more than sharing them with others. Including a trip to Croatia with her daughter just last year. She is survived by her children Gabe Herron, Lindsay Murphy, and Grant Herron; and her cherished grandchildren Henry, Ella, Anderson, Kinsley, and Thomas (“Tom-Tom”). As well as her children’s spouses, who she considered her own, Kristin Mueller, Austin Murphy, and Samantha Herron.
A lifelong learner and lover of nature, Marsha found joy in golfing, birdwatching, gardening, hiking, and camping. Her friends and family will remember her as stubborn in the best possible way—determined, persistent, and able to overcome life’s challenges.
Marsha was a former long-term member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She gave generously of her time as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, made sandwiches for the Blanchett House, and helping anyone who asked, but most often didn’t wait to be asked. She was also an active member of the Charbonneau Ladies’ Nine-Hole Golf Club, also known as “The Niners.”
Marsha is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Herron.
In lieu of flowers, please carry out an unexpected act of kindness, donate a unit of blood to Red Cross, or make a donation to Meals on Wheels.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 20th, at Nordic Northwest 8800 SW Oleson Rd, Portland OR 97223 at 2:30PM.
