Marie Ann Caya's Obituary
Marie Ann Caya died in her home on August 7, 2017 in Portland Oregon due to long-term health complications. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. She was 74 years old.
Marie was born on September 29, 1942 in Willamette, Oregon to her parents Elmer and Millie Shepherd. She married Arlan Caya and had four children, Michael, Shawn, Rick, and Pete. She worked in accounting and payroll and retired on the beautiful Columbia River. Marie dedicated her remaining time to her family and her Huntington Terrace Friends.
Marie loved to play cards, Bingo, and Call 21. She received the nickname "Card Shark" during her time at Huntington Terrace. Marie was extremely humorous and had a big heart.
Marie is survived by three of her children, Shawn Lusk, Rick Caya, and Peter Caya; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. As well as her siblings; Phil Shepherd, Tom Shepherd, and Ginny Madison. She is preceded in death by her husband Arlan Caya, her son Michael Caya, and her sister Vi Steffen.
A memorial will take place on Saturday August 12th at 1 PM at the Holman-Hankins-Bower & Waud Funeral home, 715 7th St., Oregon City, OR 97045. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Marie Caya. A private ceremony for the family will take place on Monday August 14th at 1 PM at Mountain View Cemetery, 500 Hilda St, Oregon City, OR 97045.
