Madison Riley Higgins' Obituary
Madison Riley Higgins, 17, was a junior at West Linn High School. She died of injuries sustained in a Sunday, June 8, car accident in which she was a passenger. After prolonged attempts to save her life, Maddi was peacefully called home to heaven on June 9, 2014. Maddi was born on January 22, 1997, to Mike and Carrie Higgins in Portland, Oregon. A loving and beautiful young woman, Maddi was beloved by a large circle of family and friends. A softball standout, Maddi was a fierce competitor and gifted athlete. Goal-oriented and motivated, this passionate power-house was exploring her college options. She hoped that her education, her love of the game, and her new-found love of surfing would collide! Madison Riley Higgins will be deeply missed not only by her loving family but also by her many, many friends and by the softball community. As an organ donor, her final gift to the world was the donation of her heart, lungs, kidneys, liver and beautiful brown eyes. Maddi is survived by her mother, Carrie (Lown) Higgins; her father, Mike Higgins and his wife Kate; her sisters Halle, Kylie, and Hayden Higgins; her grandparents, Linda and Armando Flores, Bill Lown, and Bob and Sue Higgins; loving uncles, aunts, and adoring cousins. A celebration of Maddi's life will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Southlake Church, West Linn, Oregon, at 2:05 p.m. ("5" in honor of her jersey number). In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either of the following: a?¢ The "Maddi Higgins Memorial West Linn Softball Scholarship Fund" for West Linn college-bound softball athletes; or a?¢ The "Maddi Higgins Family Donation Account" to assist Maddi's mother and sisters with final expenses and grief counseling.
