I'm a first cousin of Lorraine. I live in Rochester, MN, and worked with your mother on the Streit family tree. I never met your mother face-to-face, but I remember a few Streit family reunions where the "Welters girls" were at. I got to know your mother when I first started on the Streit family tree. She was very helpful and she was always the one I would go to first when I had a question. She tracked down the location of the farm where our great grandfather was raised after he and his brother were orphaned. I sent your mother a picture to identify several days ago. Since she always answered me right away I grew concerned when she didn't. I did a Google search on her name and found her obituary. Needless to say I am saddened at her passing. I knew her primarily through emails and a phone call or two. I passed this information to our "Streit cousins" list. There are about 30 people on this list. I hope you get this email and want you to know there are Streit related cousins all over who loved your mother and are saddened at her passing.
As her youngest child, I had the benefit of being spoiled rotten and loved deeply by a wonderful woman who became my best friend. We were extremely close and spoke or texted about 100 times each day, when she got sick I had the opportunity to spend each day with her laughing, joking, telling stories, and much of the time just being there watching her sleep. That time has meant the world to me. I am so thankful for all of the time we have shared. The outings we went on to JoAnn Fabrics, garage sales, thrift stores, or Fred Meyers, WalMart and Safeway for groceries. No matter how bad she felt, it always seemed like she could go 10 mph faster than I could. lol. I miss her and hope that each of you will remember her for the funny, entertaining, loving woman she was.

I met Lorraine through genealogy. She was searching for information on her ancestors in Limburg, the Netherlands and I was searching for descendants of Peter and Helena Welters who went to America in 1888. We exchanged a lot of information and she shared a large portion of her knowledge on the Welters family with me. I will be forever grateful to her.She also always remembered my birthday, our birthdays were just one day apart.....Will miss her as a friend and as a genealogist! Rest in peace dear Lorraine!
