Lorraine Linquist's Obituary
Lorraine was born in Portland, OR on Nov. 14, 1929 to Gertrude and Jack Harris. They lived in SE Portland where Lorraine graduated from Girl's Polytechnic School. She met her future husband, Byron Linquist, at Oaks Park Skating Rink. They wed in 1947 and lived in Portland a short time before becoming long time residents of Milwaukie. In later years, Lorraine and Byron settled in Oregon City where they lived near daughter, Teddi, and her family. After many enjoyable years as "snow birds" living half the year in Arizona, they settled in West Linn where they received loving care in the home of Mia and Victor Mocan.During her 57 year marriage to Byron, Lorraine devoted herself to being a loving wife and creating a warm and beautiful home in which to raise their four children. Lorraine was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking delectable treats for family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, raising vegetables and canning as well as sewing and bowling. In addition to being a superb homemaker, Lorraine proved herself a successful business woman by starting and co-owning Bon Voyage Fashions, a travel apparel store in Portland. She and Byron enjoyed many wonderful travel experiences with special memories of trips to Hawaii and Mexico. One of Lorraine's special talents was hosting large family gatherings. Whether it was a sumptuous Thanksgiving feast or a relaxed backyard pool party, Lorraine welcomed extended family and friends with her gracious hospitality. She was fun-loving, quick to laugh and to share her beautiful smile.Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, five brothers, close family friend, Sadie Jo Read, and grand-daughter, Cari. She is survived by son, Mike Linquist (Robin), daughter, Barbara Neumayer (Frank), daughter, Teddi Smith (Myke), son, Marc Linquist (Georgette), eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 10:00 a.m., at 715 7th St, Oregon City, OR 97045. Memorial contributions may be made to Doernbecher Children's Hospital or Randall Children's Hospital in Portland.
