Leon Lindsey Cole's Obituary
Leon Lindsey Cole
Leon Lindsey Cole was born on December 15, 1935 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, and passed away on August 2, 2022 in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 86. He was the first born of 3 children. His parents, Luvan and Leaton Cole, preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother Richard (Sharon) and his sister Nelda (Larry).
Leon married Joan Moultrie in 1957. They had 3 children together: David, Danny, and Julie. In 1974 he married Dorothy Zimmerman and added 3 more children to the family: Randy, Brad, and Mark.
Leon made his living as a barber, owning his own shop for many years. He retired when Dorothy was offered a position with her company that would take them to South Carolina for a few years. While in South Carolina, as Dorothy worked, Leon became very proficient at the game of golf! Once Dorothy successfully completed the work in South Carolina she retired and they immediately moved back to Oregon to be with their family and friends.
Leon was very intellectually sharp and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. He was even able to do the very difficult New York Times crosswords! Leon and Dorothy loved spending time with family and friends in retirement. They had many family gatherings at their home or at the Oregon coast over the years. They also enjoyed traveling, cruises, playing golf together, and a bit of gambling here and there.
As a veteran of the United States Navy, Leon will be laid to rest in Willamette National cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Funeral services are limited to immediate family on August 11th, 2022 at 11 AM.
