Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karin Gisela Butts, who left us on January 15, 2025, just 6 days shy of her 59th birthday. She battled bravely against Brain Cancer for 4 yrs, 3 months.
Karin was born in New Haven, Connecticut. She grew up in a small town, Millis, Massachusetts, just 30 miles Southwest of Boston.
Karin attended Carnegie Melon University for her bachelor’s degree. She had a successful early career at Intel. She married Keng Chuang and had 3 children. Karin later attended Lewis and Clark University to get her degree in psychotherapy. She then started her private counseling and therapy practice. Karin met her current husband, David Butts, in 2006 and later married in 2011. In that same year she joined her husband’s company as a business manager and CFO.
Karin is survived by her husband, David Brian Butts, Her mother, Sonja Yates, Stepmother Ruth McCandless, her siblings, Kurt McCandles and wife Katherine, with nieces Laura, Kate, Ellery and nephew Jacob, sister Kimberly Hiles and husband Will with nephew Nate. Karin’s Children, Nicholas, Natalie and Simon Chuang; Stepchildren Erin Butts, Megan with husband Halston Minnieweather and Mackenzie Butts; grandchildren Beckham, and Brooklyn Minnieweather; In laws Phyllis, Don and Donna, Steve and Tess.

Our hearts are heavy with sorrow, but we find comfort in the beautiful memories we shared with Karin. May she rest in peace.
