Karen Ann Dorney Cook's Obituary
Karen Cook, 74, passed February 3, 2025, with her husband, daughter and other family in loving attendance. She was a resident of Gladstone, Oregon. Karen was born in Portland, Oregon October 4, 1950, and grew up in Lake Oswego the oldest daughter of Alice Austin (maiden name) and Bob Dorney. Karen attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic grade school and graduated from Lake Oswego High School in 1968. The first in her family to attend college, Karen graduated from Oregon State University in 1973. She taught junior high and high school Home Economics and later taught Kindergarten; she retired after more than 30 years. Karen shared her teacher’s heart with all her students, friends and family.
Karen is survived by her husband, Steve Cook and daughter, Laura Sprecker. She is also survived by her siblings Kris (Al), Kathie, Kim and Kevin (Linda), stepfamily members, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church, 21060 SW Stafford Road, Tualatin, Oregon on February 27, 2025. Rosary will begin at 10:30 with Funeral Mass at 11:00 and reception to follow. Interment will be at Lake Oswego Pioneer Cemetery.
