Judith Hope Michael's Obituary
Judith Hope Read was born in Denver, Colorado, on February 16, 1943 where she was soon adopted by proud parents Garland and Hope Read. A year or so later brother David was adopted into the family. Growing up, the family moved often. Judi with her vibrant, magnetic, and sometimes-mischievous personality learned to make friends quickly with many who became life long best friends. She graduated from North Eugene High School and later entered studies at the U. of Oregon. As a math department student hire she attracted the attention of many math grad students including that of Glenn Michael whom she married on August 20, 1966. Military life took them to a number of stops including 6 enjoyable years in Germany. The Michael's were not blessed with children but enjoyed sponsoring several youth groups. A highlight was a talented group in Worms, Germany, who wrote a 9-act musical play which they performed before a number of audiences. Glenn's desire to go to seminary brought them to Portland, Oregon where Judi became a legal secretary. She was well honored one year as one of the Oregonian's Secretary of the Year. They enjoyed numerous travels and cruises, including a year in Vienna where Glenn taught at Vienna Christian School. Two major strong points in the marriage were their conviction in and service to the Lord Jesus Christ with whom Judi now is and their many friends who were great companions and were always there for them. She will be missed by many. A memorial service is planned on April 16 at 3:00 at Powellhurst Baptist Church, 3435 SE 112th, in Portland.
