JIMMY GLOVER FISHER
Jimmy Fisher was born March 5, 1923, a descendant of Oregon pioneers who settled Fisher's Landing in 1851, and passed away on September 17, 2015. He lived his entire life in Oregon City. In September, 1949 he married Eileen Cooney who predeceased him in December, 2013. They had three children, Tim Fisher (Judy); Laura Henderson (Tim) and Janel Winner (Steve) and seven grandchildren, Lindsay and Tom Henderson; Justin Fisher; and Clark, Reed, Katie and Stephanie Winner. Jim was the owner of Muno's Bakery in Oregon City where he began working after school in 1938. After four years in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he was stationed in the Solomon Islands, he returned to Oregon City to work at the bakery and eventually purchased it from Daniel Muno in 1958. Upon retirement in 1988, he sold the bakery. Jim was active in many facets of Oregon City life, serving on the Oregon City School Board in the years when the Oregon City football stadium was built, an accomplishment of which he was very proud. Jim was a fan of Oregon Ducks Football, and never missed a home game from 1946 to 1999, a record encompassing over 350 home games. He was a 70-year member of the Oregon City Elks Club and a member of the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce. He was a volunteer fireman for Oregon City and lived at the firehouse in the late 1940's.
