Jerrald Lee Urback's Obituary
Jerrald Lee Urback
January 10, 1943- December 4, 2024
On December 4, 2024, Jerrald Lee Urback went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Jerry was born in Bayard, Nebraska to Herman and Lydia Urback on January 10, 1943. When he was four years old his family moved to Oregon. Jerry’s Aunt Lila and Uncle Benny took him to a German church in Portland, where he met Barb, and they eventually started dating. They dated for many years before becoming engaged. One month before they were to be married, they both came to know Jesus as their personal Savior in different places on the same night. Two years after they were married, they started their family. First came Lisa, then Lori, and finally the caboose, Tim.
The Lord called Jerry and Barb into the ministry. To prepare for this, they sold their home and Jerry started attending Multnomah School of the Bible while working full time and supporting their family while Barb stayed home with the kids. He graduated in 1973, and they joined Village Missions, where they faithfully served the Lord for 34 years. He retired at the age of 65.
Jerry’s desire throughout life was to see people come to know Jesus as their personal Savior and watch them grow in their relationship with Christ. As he watched his family grow, he was greatly invested in each of their lives! A verse he clung to was “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth” (3 John 1:4).
Jerry is survived by his wife Barb of almost 59 years; his children Lisa Wheeler (Bryan), Lori Fuson (Tony), and Tim Urback (Julie); 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; and his brother Ron Urback.
A Memorial Service for Jerry Urback will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Sunnyside Community Church (16444 SE Highway 212, Damascus, OR 97089).
