Jerome Kendall Siler's Obituary
Jerome “Jerry” Kendall Siler, 74, of Oregon City, OR, passed away on Sunday, July 26th, 2026, at 8:16am. He was born on April 17th, 1952, to Glenn Wilfred Siler and Carol Aileen Reigh in Beach, ND. Jerry grew up in Wenatchee, WA in a loving family with nine brothers and sisters. During his career, Jerry was an engineer, entrepreneur and business owner. As head of research and development at Gaylord Industries, Jerry designed and tested commercial ventilation equipment. Later, Jerry launched the successful business which would define the remainder of his career, Independent R&D, specializing in home repair, construction and remodeling. Over the years, Jerry repaired and updated countless homes in the Portland, OR area, often with his sons and daughters joining his crew as employees, learning valuable skills along the way. Jerry delighted in showing his wife, Janeene, his remodels and repairs for clients. Ultimately, he remodeled every room in their home. He loved telling Janeene that he could fix anything in seven minutes or less!
In 1993 Jerry met Janeene, the love of his life, when he gave her a quote for deck repair and a new skylight. He came highly recommended by a mutual friend. It was sparks for both; love at first sight and the rest is history. Their first date was to visit Mt. St, Helens with all six of his kids! They’ve been literally cruising ever since with trips to Canada, Hawaii, the Mediterranean and Alaska.
Jerry enjoyed bowling with his team at Hollywood Bowl and was so proud of a league game score of 267. His average was 180! Tent camping and RVing in his vintage GMC Motor Coach were his delight with visits to numerous national parks, but especially the Oregon Coast.
In retirement, Jerry loved his gardens. Working side-by-side with Janeene, they transformed the plain grassy backyard of their home into a sweeping, dramatic landscape, complete with a bubbling brook, koi pond, multiple fountains, a mock fishing village for the grandkids, an aviary full of exotic birds and carefully selected plants of all types. Jerry loved hosting parties and events, including multiple weddings for his children and countless family reunions and gatherings. Jerry had a deep love for family, especially his six children, two stepsons, and their children. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dan Siler, and brother-in-law Tom McEachern. He is survived by a large family who loved him, including his dear wife Janeene Siler; his six children Joshua (Richa) Siler, Nathan Siler, Carmel (Corey) Siler, Rosalie (Ryan) Siler, Dominic (Janelle) Siler and Maria (Glen & Amy) Siler; his stepsons Trygve (Jennifer) Falkenberg and Erik Falkenberg; his siblings Terry McEachern, Steve (Trixie) Siler, Cheryl (Russ) Adkins, Joel (Judy) Siler, David (Marie) Siler, Fr. Robert Siler, Mary (Mike) Jarman, and Carl (Brenda) Siler; along with numerous extended family members, grandchildren, and friends.
The family is especially grateful for the medical expertise and compassionate care that he received at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital from his doctors, surgeons and medical staff.
Jerry was one of those larger-than-life individuals with insatiable passions and interests. He will be missed.
