Jacquelyn Thornock's Obituary
Jacquelyn Lee Rogers Thornock, known as Jackie, peacefully passed in her home in Cornelius, Oregon on December 2, 2022, at the age of 91.
She was born on August 21, 1931, in Boise, Idaho and was one of four children. She wed her sweetheart, Melvin Thornock, of Boise shortly after graduating high school.
In 1959, she became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Being a member was very important to her as she held many callings and served throughout her life.
Early in her married life she was a telephone operator with Bell Telephone Company along with many of her friends. She was a very skilled artist and during the winter she painted holiday scenes on storefront windows in downtown Boise. She was sought after for her incredible talent! She was an accomplished artist who created many paintings throughout her life that her children and grandchildren will forever cherish.
In 1980, Mel, Jackie and Ann moved to Milwaukie, Oregon where she worked for 20 years with the Estacada School District with autistic and down syndrome students
Mel and Jackie lived in the same home until Mel’s death in 2018, after which she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law after her husbands death and lived there until her last few months, which she spent with her granddaughter and family.
Jackie is survived by her three children, Rick, Christi, and Ann, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Family was everything to her and she adored all of them. One special memory that her grandchildren have was when they all gathered at her house each holiday to decorate cookies.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband and two of her sisters.
Her funeral service will be Friday Dec 16, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Holman Hankins Bowker & Waud Chapel at 715 7th St, Oregon City, OR 97045.
Pallbearers are her grandchildren.
