Gloria Arlyne Plew's Obituary
Gloria Arlyne Plew, age 73, left this world for a better place one year ago on July 18th 2013, due to complications from heart surgery during a long and difficult recovery. She was born Gloria Arlyne Weis the daughter of Maurice Weis (a prominent Portland educator) and Phyllis Weis on August 27,1939 in Eugene Oregon.Gloria was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Plew and her second son Scott Maurice Jennings. She was the beloved Mother of eldest son Mark Edward Jennings (partner Allen Cordell) and daughter Darci Marie Fee (husband Patrick Fee). She was the inspirational grandmother to Taylor Lynn Johnson and Kassandra Marie Johnson, and sister to Gretchen (Gaye) Callaghan. But that is just a small window into Gloria Arlyne Plew. The Weis family lived in Laurelhurst and Gloria attended Grant High school. She was offered a modeling career in 1955 but chose the path of motherhood and family instead. She moved with her Husband, Paul Edward Jennings, back to North Carolina where they started a family. They returned to Portland in 1965 where her love for interior design engaged her in business with her mother, Phyllis, and was very successful in the 1970's decorating the lobbies of top hotels in the Portland area. Her flair for party giving and giving of herself was forever present. She absolutely y rejoiced in people having a good time! We know she's putting together parties up there and we know we'll be going to those parties in the future, but until then Gloria, your children, your grand-children, your sister and your friends will miss you. Your voice maybe still but your spirit echoes within us. And our memories reflect the "light" of a life well lived. The family suggests donations be made to your favorite animal charity in Gloria's memory. Please feel free to contact Darci with any inquiries at [email protected]. Arrangements by Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud.
