Glen Dale Browning
Born in 1944 in Caraway, Ark. Died 10/19/2023, Age 79, in Oregon City, Or. He died unexpectedly, with
his wife at his side. Cause of death was pneumonia after catching a cold. His lungs were compromised
by cancer in 2002 from Agent Orange exposure in Viet Nam.
Glen grew up in a small town in Arkansas and picked cotton as a kid. He had seven brothers and sisters
and all the adventures that come with a house full of kids. At the age of 21 he was drafted into the
Army and sent to Viet Nam where he served his Country. The first plane he rode in, he had to jump out
of in Airborne training. After Viet Nam he had lived in various places and eventually moved to Oregon.
He worked as a Journeymen Sheet Metal Worker at Brod & McClung Pace Co. for 24 years until the
company closed down. After retirement he started driving the Oregon City Trolly and had fun meeting
travelers from all over the world. It was perfect for him because he loves meeting people.
While in Oregon he met Connie Gowen in Dec 1974. Together they enjoyed the adventures of life. They
loved nature, photography, walks at the beach, hiking the waterfall trails in the Columbia Gorge & Silver
Creek Falls. They loved seeing the Grand Canyon, the red rocks of Utah and the beaches in Key West.
An avid photographer, he’s taken so many beautiful pictures. Glen would strike up a fun conversation
with anyone he met. He had such a kind heart, a fun spirit and really cared about people.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gordon Browning, and his mother Ella Leona Browning, his
brothers James & Gerald and sister Maxine. He is survived by his wife Connie of 49 years, daughter
Tamarra (Andrew) Edgar, son Barry (Stephanie) Alley, grandsons Jared & Braydon Edgar, his sisters,
Charlene (Floyd) Winstead, Mildred (Marvin) Tipton, Barb (George) Henry and his brother William
(Gwen) Browning and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be buried at Willamette National Cemetery with full Military Honors on Wednesday, October
25th at 11 am. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 25 at 2 PM at Connection
