George I Hansen
George I Hansen 93, of Oregon City, Oregon, passed away November 2, 2023 of natural causes, he was in his home with his family and friends.
George was born on March 17, 1930 to Irving and Clara Hansen in Seattle, Washington. George lived with his mother and father on Salmon Bay where he discovered his love for boating and the San Juan Islands traveling with his parents most summers. After graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1947, he went on to study History and Pre-Law at the University of Washington where he received is Bachelor’s degree. George was a very outgoing and active student at the University of Washington, he participated with University’s nationally ranked 8-man crew team and boxed as a “Golden Gloves” ranked boxer. George’s summers followed the same active lifestyle where he spent his time in Alaska working on fishing boats and enjoying his love for boating and the ocean.
After graduation from college, George enlisted in the Army supporting his country during the Korean war. Because of George’s pre-law college education and leadership skills he was selected for officer training and held various commands across the country during his 30 years of distinguished service retiring with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
After George completed is active duty in the Army he attended Northwestern School of Law in Portland, Oregon, where he earned his Juris Doctorate, and began a 50-year career as a practicing real estate lawyer. Throughout his career George was at the forefront of creative development in real-estate law, he was an instrumental part of the legal team that created condominium law in the state of Oregon, and together with life-long friends developed numerous marquee properties across the Northwest. George was tireless in his involvement in real estate development and was actively completing projects up until summer of 2023.
In 1960, he met Earlene (Dotson) Hansen, and they wed in 1963, with five children, Michelle, Roberta, Tari, Krystal and Kendall.
George is survived by his wife, Earlene Hansen, and his four children Michelle, Roberta, Krystal and Kendall and grandchild Olivia.
George will be remembered by all as a person who always held integrity and honesty in his pursuit of life, with great love and faith in his family and friends without waiver.
