Gene "Doc" Holliday, 93, passed away peacefully on September 10th
Gene was born on January 18th, 1924 in Oregon City. He attended Oregon City High School until 1941 when he enlisted in the US Navy. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor on the USS Phoenix. He proudly served 6 years in the Navy followed by 22 ½ years in the Air National Guard.
After returning home from WWII he had many different careers, such as truck driver, Clackamas County Sheriff Deputy, and tavern owner. He worked as a property manager until retirement.
Gene was an active member of the Milwaukie and Oregon City Elks Lodge.
He will be remembered as incredibly kind and generous. He enjoyed playing golf, riding his motorcycle and fishing with his wife Norma Jean.
Gene is survived by wife Norma Jean, son Randy Holliday, step-children, Kathy Spaulding, Randy Perkins and Linda Fund, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14th at 11:00am at Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City.
