Erlyn Clyde Krueger's Obituary
Erlyn Clyde Krueger of Oregon City passed away peacefully on February 19, 2023, at the age of 90. He spent his final years battling Alzheimer’s.
Erlyn was born in Athens, Wisconsin on September 23, 1932, to parents Otto and Josephine Krueger. He was the youngest of nine children. He made the move to Oregon City with his parents at the age of fifteen. Erlyn graduated from Oregon City High School in 1950. He met the love of his life, Lesley Latourette of Oregon City, at the Oaks Park roller skating rink in 1952. They married on July 23, 1955. They spent their early years in San Francisco while Erlyn was serving in the US Army, and had their son Kevin. They moved back to Oregon City and had their second son Robert (Bob).
Erlyn worked for the Army Corp of Engineers in Portland as a Hydraulic Engineer for 38 years. He was a longtime member of the Oregon City Elks Lodge.
Erlyn had a love for all sports. He also enjoyed fishing and family barbecues. He and his wife were regulars at their sons’ sporting events.
He coached his sons’ youth baseball teams for several years and has plenty of trophies to show his success. He enjoyed the time spent on the field teaching kids to love the game.
He attended the many sporting events of his three grandchildren in the same tradition. He always had a smile and was quick with a joke.
Survivors include his wife Lesley Krueger of Oregon City, son Kevin Krueger (wife Sandi) of West Linn, and son Bob Krueger (wife Jeanne) of Oregon City. His grandchildren are Kyle Krueger, Angela (Angie) Krueger, Kailey Krueger, and great granddaughter Isabelle (Izzy) Fouts. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Erlyn was predeceased by his parents Otto and Josephine Krueger; sisters Irene Habeck, Lucille Aderhold, Elvira Jantsch, Doris Habeck, Esther Nehrbass, Geraldine Andersen; and brothers Donn Krueger and Orville Krueger.
His memorial service, followed by a reception, is scheduled for Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church located at 1321 Linn Avenue, Oregon City, OR 97045. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City.
