Elmer Howard Griffin's Obituary
Elmer Howard Griffin died peacefully on April 14, 2014. Griff, as he was known, was born in Portland on October 1, 1920. He attended Ockley Green and graduated from Benson High School. He is a WWII veteran, serving in the 8ih Mountain Infantry, Tenth Mountain Division in the Aleutian Kiska Campaign and also in Northern Italy. He returned to Portland to resume his employment at Pacific Northwest Bell for forty one years, retiring in 1982. He married his wife Betty in 1946 and they had 68 beautiful years together. He is survived by his wife, daughter, Jane Clark (Byron), grandson Dana Clark, granddaughters Janelle Mitchell and Lisa Brown and four great grandchildren. Griff - a quiet man of ingenuity, enterprise and integrity. Graveside services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery April 22 at 10:00AM. A Memorial Service will be held at Bethel Congregational UCC in Beaverton on April 30, 2014 at 2:00PM.
