Elizabeth Jeanne Charles' Obituary
Elizabeth Fiske (Betty) Charles
On October 31, 2015, Elizabeth was promoted to Glory after a long and courageous struggle against Alzheimer's at the age of 82.
Elizabeth was born January 17, 1933, in Portland. She attended Washington High School and Portland State University before beginning her career as a phone operator at Pacific Northwest Bell. Elizabeth retired in 1987 as an instructor/supervisor of the Yellow Pages for then QWest (Century Link). She will be remembered as a proud mother, with a generous and independent spirit that led her to become an adventurous woman who participated in a variety of activities. Elizabeth was very active member of Willamette Christian Church, enjoyed working in her garden growing a variety of plants and flowers that she could use in her floral arranging, enjoyed knitting, and hosting friends and family for dinner celebrations.
The family would like to thank the Tanner Spring Assisted Living & Memory Care staff for their love and support for these past years.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters Donna Rice (Bob), Diane Lelinski (Joe) and son David Charles (Jan), sister Katherine Grimm and brother Dennis Mahoney and their families. Elizabeth has 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at 1 pm Thursday November 12, 2015 at Willamette Christian Church in West Linn. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the "Cure Alzheimer's Fund".
