Dushan Rajko Lukovich's Obituary
Dushan Rajko Lukovich, Danny to everyone who knew him, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17th, 2024, at 3:00pm, just short of his 90th Birthday. Dushan was born on November 18, 1934, to Ceedomir and Milicia in Belgrade, in the former Yugoslavia. His family had lived in Belgrade for generations. Growing up as a child and surviving the perils of World War II, he became a member of the Yugoslavia National Hockey Team at the age of 18. With this, Dushan was able to defect from the then communist Yugoslavia (which is now Serbia) to pursue what he was convinced would be a better opportunity in life in the United States of America in the year 1957. In the United States, he served in the military (Army), worked in the trade he learned back in his country (Pattern Maker), and met the love his life, Frieda Ferber, who became his future wife of 63 years. They had two sons, Tom and Steven. From those sons, he gained four granddaughters, Sophia, Olivia, Madigan, and Kalista.
From owning and running a successful tool and die business, to funding and building the St. Stephens Serbian Orthodox church in Milwaukie, Oregon, Dushan always kept himself on task with projects he loved. Most importantly, Dushan was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
Church Service will commence at 10:30am on October 31, at St. Stephens Serbian Orthodox Church in Milwaukie, Oregon.
Military Honors will be held at Willamette National Veterans Cemetery at 1:00pm following the Church Service. Please meet in the upper parking lot across from the Main Office.
Reception will follow at 2:00pm at St. Stephens Serbian Orthodox Church
(authentic Serbian food and refreshments)
