Dorthy Frances Kirchem passed away peacefully at her residence in Gladstone OR. Dorthy was born to Marion and Amada Moore, August 22, 1924. Dorthy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She grew up in the home her father built in suburban Oregon City. She graduated from Oregon City High School. Dorthy married Marion Arlie Kirchem in Arkansas on October8, 1943.
Dorthy was a homemaker, having 5 children and was married for 73 years. She loved to sew, play the piano, was active in Church and the Church Youth Program. When Arlie retired from the Sothern Pacific Railroad, they bought a large Honda motorcycle and joined an over 40 age group motorcycle club called the "Retreads". Later, due to international interest, Arlie and Dorthy started the "United Motorcycle Club International (UMCI). During their travel on the motorcycle they visited 48 of the 50 states, and toured the full length of Canada.
Dorthy was a "Born Again Christion" and she has gone home. Dorthy's husband, Marion Arlie Kirchem proceeded her in death on March 7, 2017, and also her daughter Constance Day passed on January 7, 2017. Dorthy is survived by her children, Caroline Schlichtman, Judith Dyck, David Kirchem, Karl Kirchem, grandchildren Teresa Underwood, Tim Dyck, Jeff Dyck, Amy Bergren, Brad Day, Christina Kirchem, Danielle Miller, Amanda Pace, Megan Kirchem, Andy Kirchem, Kimberley Knopf, Corinna Wells, and 22 great-grandchildren. A grave site service will be held for family only through Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud in Oregon City. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to any Cancer Cure Research program.
