Donna Kay Wycoff's Obituary
Donna Kay Wycoff of Milwaukie, Oregon passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. She was 78.
Donna was born on May 18, 1947, in Ajo, Arizona, to Donald Morris and Ruth Morris. After moving to Pocatello, Idaho with her mother, she was later lovingly raised by her father, Ron Nicholas. All preceded her in death.
Donna was a devoted and loving mother to John Hapke, from her first marriage to Paul Hapke, and Christina Vernier, from her second marriage to Terry Helt. In 1975, Donna and her two children moved to Portland, Oregon, beginning a new chapter filled with adventure and opportunity. In 1986, Donna met the love of her life, Norm Wycoff. They married in 1993 and made their home in Milwaukie, where they spent many years expanding and lovingly shaping the house they cherished together.
After graduating from Pocatello High School in Pocatello, Idaho, in 1965, Donna earned her Associate’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism from Mt. Hood Community College. She spent most of her professional career at Portland General Electric and Pacific Corp, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. Donna was a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Portland.
Donna was known for her love of sewing, cooking, and an endless enjoyment of cooking shows. She had a particular fondness for all things British, a detail that delighted those who knew her well. An avid quilter, she treasured trips with friends and family in search of the perfect fabrics, creating pieces that reflected both her creativity and care.
In 2005, Donna and Norm began a new and deeply loved chapter when they got their first Border Collie. That decision led to nearly twenty years filled with the companionship and joy of many beloved Border Collies, all of whom held a special place in Donna’s heart.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Norm Wycoff; her children, John Hapke (Queenie) of Vancouver, Washington, and Christina Vernier (Rick) of Niles, Michigan; her grandchildren, Gabriel Hapke, Megan Lee, and Joshua Lee; her brothers, Gary Nicholas (Mary Johnston) of Seattle, Washington, and Brian Nicholas (Christine) of Eagle, Idaho; and her nieces, Rachel and Emily Nicholas.
Donna will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and deep love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the many lives she touched with kindness and care.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna’s name to the American Cancer Society or Border Collie Rescue.
