Donald Alan Young's Obituary
Donald Alan Young, born on November 9th, 1968 in Oregon City, OR, passed away peacefully at home in Oregon City on February 1st, 2023 at the age of 54.
Alan attended St. John the Apostle Catholic School in Oregon City, OR and La Salle Catholic College Preparatory in Milwaukie, OR from 1983-1987. He was a hard working concrete contractor and business owner of Day 1 Construction for over 30 years. Alan was a devoted family man and had an unwavering enthusiasm for life. He was an avid traveler to many places and developed a love for snorkeling and scuba diving. While at home he enjoyed snowmobiling in the winters, but his greatest passion was the game of baseball. He played over 40 seasons of baseball in his life, traveling for tournaments annually for the last 8 years. He also thoroughly enjoyed watching baseball, being a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and Oregon State baseball team especially.
Alan is survived by his wife, Ann, children, Hayden and Caitlynn, siblings Michael (Carol) Young, Robert (Tia) Young, Patrick (Lynne) Young and Steven (Becky) Young, as well as 19 nieces and nephews. He is preceded by father Donald Marion Young, mother Helen Young, and brother David (Doris) Young. Alan was a loving, supportive father and husband, a loyal brother, and a beloved friend, and he will be dearly missed by so many.
There will be a viewing at the funeral home, Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud, 715 7th St. Oregon City, OR 97045, on Tuesday February 7th, 2023 from 10 am to 4 pm.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday February 8th, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church, 3910 SE 11th Ave. Portland, OR, beginning at 12 pm with a reception in the reception hall from 1-2:30 pm.
Finally, the burial will follow directly after at Beavercreek Cemetery.
